UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL MEALS

All children in Years 1, 2 & 3will be eligible for a Free School Meal from September 2014 onwards.  The provider will be Carre’s Grammar School.

HOT SCHOOL MEALS INFORMATION

Our provider of Hot School Meals is Carre’s Grammar School in Sleaford, who provide a very high standard of meals for their own children.   Children are offered a 2course meal for £2.35.

The children will have a choice of Meat option, non meat, or Sandwich, Dessert or fruit.

Menus will be sent out and ordered initially for 2 weeks at a time (although we are hoping to eventually do a month or even a term).

To help school with the administration of hot meals, I would be very grateful if cheques could be sent in, rather than cash.  Cheques should be made payable to Lincolnshire County Council.

Payment must be sent in with the orders.  If menus are brought in late, unfortunately no meals can be ordered for that week

Meals cannot be cancelled on the day, as the food will already have been bought and prepared.  If an absence is continuing for more than that one day, the remaining days can be cancelled.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

Your child may be entitled to free school meals. Please complete the form below and return to the school office to find out if you are eligible to claim. The school receives additional funding called Pupil Premium for children entitled to Free School Meals so please check your eligibility and apply even if you do not wish your child to have Free School Meals.

Free School Meals Guidance for parents

Who is entitled to free school meals?

If you receive the following benefits you will be able to claim a meal for your children:

Income Support

Income-based Job Seeker’s Allowance

Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit

Child Tax Credit with an annual household income of less than £16,190 and do not get Working Tax Credit

What if my circumstances change?

You should notify the school:

  • if you start work and come off benefit

  • if you change address

  • if your child changes school

What is the Pupil Premium?

Did you know that the school receives a Pupil Premium payment for the year in which families are eligible for free school meals and automatically for the following six years? This additional funding will be invested in your child to help them achieve more at school.

Free School Meal Standards

All food provided by schools must meet national nutritional standards. These ensure that children are provided with a healthy, balanced diet. The new standards, introduced in September 2006, require the following:

  • high-quality meat, poultry or oily fish regularly available

  • at least two portions of fruit and vegetables with every meal

  • bread, other cereals and potatoes regularly available

School meals are the best way to make sure your child is getting all the nutrients they need to be able to learn.
